The Meinl 12†Aluminum Caixa is a staple piece with any Samba band. The Caixa is a snare-type drum played with brushwood. It has synthetic heads for bright, penetrating tones, and cutting rim shots. The Caixa’s role is to be played as a quick and high counterpoint line to the deeper Surdos and middle range Repenique. The Meinl 12†Aluminum Caixa has a snare drum style snare, complete with a snare throw-off. The rims are open with six countersunk tuning lugs. All edges are smoothly finished for player comfort.
